CNC-City NewsCasts™: FADD - Friends Against Drinking and Driving Informational Series.
These podcasts will focus on the work that the FADD organization does to educate teenagers about the adverse effects and fatal consequences of drinking and driving. Prom and graduation events are the high risk times of the year.
Due to the popularity of the iPOD with teenagers, we hope that they will spread the word to their friends to download this critical informational series and replay it for other friends to further promote this education to those that have not had the benefit of participating in the program personally.
FADD is saving lives in the high schools that it is able to reach with the live demonstrations. We hope to further that reach with these podcasts and generate the interest that it takes to reach out to others who can help continue these programs in many high schools across the country.
FADD, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1989 by Steve Concialdi, a dedicated father and fire captain/paramedic with the Orange County Fire Authority with his own funds and other dedicated friends. Since 1991, FADD has partnered with the Orange County Fire Authority to stage the mock DUI crashes.
FADD's successful program has inspired the Every 15 Minute demonstrations in High Schools across the country that began in 1995.
FADD stages mock DUI crash scenes, complete with real crashed vehicles that were involved in DUI accidents, and organizes community groups and volunteers from Trauma Intervention Program (TIP), California Highway Patrol (CHP), Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), Mission Hospital, Orange County Sheriff's Department (OCSD), S and K Towing, O'Connor Mortuary, local ambulance and coroner's office, hospital personnel, makeup artists, local high school personnel, and of course the students and parents of participating high schools to complete a one day experience of what it would be like to experience the effects of this type of tragedy.
The first podcast video shows the students what local breaking news coverage would be like had it been a real accident. The video also includes drinking and driving statistics for California and the U.S.
